In this three part series, we discuss what logos pathos and ethos is and how to effectively use this to recover payments on past due invoices. In this blog, we will cover how to best utilize your logos. Read Part I on Ethos and Part II on Pathos.
- Have you provided a good or service to a customer who is now slow to pay?
- Are your outreaches of additional invoices, phone calls, and more proving unfruitful?
Maybe it’s time to up your LOGOS!
What is logos pathos and ethos? What is Logos?
Logos “… includes any content in an argument that is meant to appeal to logic” (What is Logos? Definition, Examples of Logos in Literature – Writing Explained) As it relates to business, think of logos as using facts and a clear message.
How to use Logos in Your Collections Process
When asking for a payment (in person, phone, email, etc.), use logos as a way to evidence that an agreement was made and work was completed. Use logos to drive the conversation in the following ways.
- Provide documentation on the contract, engagement letter, agreement, or any documentation that provides proof your consumer agreed to the services.
- Provide invoices showing the work was done and payment was requested.
Utilize your ethos (credibility) and pathos (emotions) along with your logos to bring resolution to the receivable by asking for a “good faith” payment with a future payment plan or payment in full!
